Your own desert island......

Gladden Private Island, Belize

Ever dreamt about running away to your own desert island with your partner? Then Gladden Island is THE place for you. It’s one of the smallest islands on Belize’s barrier reef in the Caribbean and in the middle of a spectacular marine nature reserve.

A super-luxurious villa awaits just for you two. Staff are on hand on another island a two-minute boat ride offshore, ready to provide anything you desire, from organising snorkelling and scuba-diving to spa treatments. Your personal Gladden chef island-hops over to you to rustle up incredible food whenever you want it and a “privacy meter” indicates if a member of the team is on the main island for any reason, because they want guests to feel free to be themselves.

There are no other neighbours – it’s just you two and the views. Bliss!

Yet another reason to love Ibiza.....

This must be the ultimate gift for LEGO® lovers this Christmas?

Rosewood London Hotel has partnered with LEGOLAND Windsor, to celebrate the 2018 festive season.

Upon arrival, families will be welcomed by two loyal Queen’s Guards and will stay in a suite where the city of London has been constructed solely from LEGO® bricks.
With a rotating London Eye, Big Ben tower which chimes on the hour, an opening and closing Tower Bridge, and Buckingham Palace with a waving flag upon its roof, LEGO® fans will be in their element.

In the evening, families can enjoy a LEGO® inspired British banquet by Executive Chef Martin Cahill, who will hand craft all of the courses in the shape of various LEGO® elements and characters.

The Christmas fairy tale continues into the next morning, where after a lavish breakfast in bed, a private helicopter will be waiting to transport guests to Official LEGOLAND Windsor, where they will enjoy a VIP experience with priority access to all rides and a private host to lead their adventure-filled day. To top it off the children can take home a custom life-size LEGO® creation of their own face as a memento of the trip.

A true one-of-a-kind LEGO® experience.

A Christmas market with a difference.

Few cities steep themselves in the festive spirit like Vienna. The Austrian capital's first Christmas Market was held in 1298 and today the city has more than 20 events to choose from starting today.

Screen Shot 2018-12-13 at 20.49.57.png

The Viennese Christmas Market, which takes place in front of City Hall is home to around 151 stalls serving everything from boozy Christmas punch to gut busting Austrian sausages. The market also boasts a huge ice rink for skating, reindeer rides for kids and a classic nativity scene, the perfect winter weekend break for the entire family.

Stay at Sacher Hotels Hotel Sacher-Wren, birthplace of the Sacher-Torte, probably the world's most famous chocolate cake, made with a secret recipe from 1832.

And do be sure to try out curling on the dedicated ice rink. A bizarre and brilliant winter sport to keep off the chill.

Camping.....but not as you know it.....

The Ultimate Travelling Camp, Chumba

Every day you stay at @theultimatetravellingcamp Chumba – and assuming you’re awake early enough – you’ll gaze out at Thiksey Monastery in the valley below, bathed in morning light of exquisite quality, and be eternally glad you made it here.

Chumba camp 3.jpg

It’s a very long way from tourist-trodden India, and is one of a handful of traveller-style camps hidden in the mountainous Ladaky district. This is the northernmost part of India, sparsely populated and with altitudes of up to 6500m.

But don’t imagine for one moment that you’re annexed from civilisation.

The tents in this little settlement set new standards for sumptuousness – there’s a butler service, a beautiful bathroom, a private verandah, and a writing desk with spectacular views where you can harvest your thoughts.

You’ll be immersed in a thunderous polo match in the very region where the royal game originated; then you’ll be taking morning prayers with Buddhist monks. You’ll be going on long walks through ancient villages or Old Leh City, and then rediscovering traditional dances and music performed by a dedicated troupe of local performers.

Your daily excursions will immerse you in the remote beauty and ancient traditions of the surrounding area. It’s a place of stunning contrasts.

Meanwhile, mountain-biking over Wari La, the world’s fourth-highest mountain pass, and rafting down the River Indus provide life-affirming thrills.

Believe us, if you perspire at all then it’s down to exhilaration and not the humidity; this is one of India’s coolest spots, with daily temperature of 10-32 degrees for the limited May-October time you can visit.

There are 3, 4, 5 and 7 night itineraries available, perfect to combine with a longer trip to India.

It's a place we would love to return again and again to replenish mind, body and soul.

Tswalu Kalahari

Literally from aardvark to zebra, South Africa's Tswalu Kalahari Game Reserve, teems with wildlife. We defy any parent not to love the fact that there are two big colonies of meerkats here, whose antics and curiosity for humans are going to have your little ones spellbound.

Screen Shot 2018-12-13 at 21.09.08.png

That’s merely one aspect of this wonderful place. The biggest private game reserve in South Africa, it’s an epic wilderness of arid grasslands, savannas, sand dunes and rugged mountains which taken together as a complete eco-system supports the needs of everything from lions and cheetah to wild dogs and black rhino.

Guests will love the respectful vehicle safaris and horse-riding expeditions to spot some of the 80 mammal species and 240 birds that live here and staring at the stars on a sleep-out deck with nocturnal animals calling, snorting and rustling in the background will be a thrill for all ages.

The work to return farmlands to natural habitat was begun by Englishman Stephen Boler, and the conservation programme has accelerated under current owner the Oppenheimer family and their Tswalu Foundation.

In visiting, you’re actually helping to fund the Foundation’s ongoing projects and guaranteeing that, although this place might one day be bulging with antelope (great for the big game food chain, of course), it will never be overrun by people, as there can only be 28 adult guests at any one time and there's no threat of malaria.

Suites are designed to easily accommodate families, there are flexible dining times as well as an extensive list of activities specially designed for children and under 12's go absolutely free!

Tswalu is an amazing place for children to get a real safari experience and we know they’ll remember it forever and most likely become ardent nature conservers for life.

Malta - 2018 capital of culture

Malta is stepping into the limelight this year thanks to Valletta the UNESCO-listed capital of Malta, being designated a 2018 European Capital of Culture. Malta has a greater density of historic sights than any other country, fantastic beaches, crystal-clear sea, caves to swim in, fantastic restaurants and an abundance of events going on during the summer months, from activities at the beach side (sandy or rocky, take your pick) to the wild nightlife and the traditional Maltese religious feasts which are a treat if you’ve never experienced them before.

Iniala Harbour House owned by the Renowned Iniala group is due to open at the end of the year. Set on the harbour front, this boutique beauty will see 24 rooms spread across four grand palazzos, including two townhouses, a former bank and several vaults that once stored dynamite but will now house the hotel’s luxury subterranean spa and gym.

A rooftop restaurant and bar with views stretching from the city’s fortified walls to the Grand Harbour and Three Cities beyond will be the hotel’s crowning glory. Expect ultra-hip spaces styled by an army of leading designers from around the world.

For the guest who thinks they’ve seen everything: in-room 'experience-ometers' can be set to desired activity levels; the hotel plans an itinerary to suit and we can't wait!
